Competent antagonists that at least have their morals? I think I'm going to like the Explorers being antagonists. Wish they'd have done a different main flier for Friede though, Charizard keeps being too overused, though I'm more than fine with Captain Pikachu. May be the same species as the one we knew, but definitely a whole different personality, so far I like him. Do have to agree on the rest of the Airship team looking more like villains at first, especially Murdock and Mollie - but seeing them start to get fleshed out a bit more is good. Will be interesting to see Roy get thrown into the mix next episode.
Enjoyable so far, more hits than misses when it comes to the cast and events, solid start.

Great episode that makes me realize that this will be a very unique Pokémon show, first it seems that we're going to be more involved in the mysteries of the world instead of becoming the very best like no one ever was, and second... I'm starting to like the Explorers as villains, they're no mere thugs and makes me wonder what their endgame is.

Also the airship crew makes me feel like I'm watching Final Fantasy 7 or something, having this large cast will be very interesting in terms of dynamics, and I really hope all of them get a well deserved character development.

And about Liko, I know she's still very rough around the edges, but as I said before... she's acting like a child as she's supposed to be one, a child that found herself tossed into an epic journey, she's no Ash at all... and that makes her feel more real and human. If anything, I'm sure once Roy joins the crew things will be much better, he will complement Liko in someway to further her character development.

Oh and... so it was true... Roy is holding a round object similar to a Pokeball... I really, really hope this is the GS Pokeball plot we all have been waiting for, otherwise I'll be extremely angry and disappointed.

That'd be cool but I doubt that's the case. Characters in Pokemon sometime share the same voice actors/actresses. I've heard the Go's VA also voices Fuecoco. And Jessie/Musashi's VA voices Sprigatito.

I caught that too. If this takes place over a decade past the last series, then it makes sense that Go might have become some type of professor or cataloguer, and having his recordings/data used in modern dexes.

This is also why Decidueye is the best starter, Lunala is best Legendary, Torquil's final form in Arceus makes it best starter there and is part of what makes Fuecoco the best starter in Scarlet/Violet (the other part is his derpy behaviour when introduced that made him adorable and caused me to name him after a friend).

they obviously are as you can tell from their actions, the Pokemon anime is no stranger to dark plots lmao. The Diamond and Pearl anime literally had a villain that was so cruel and unredeemable that they had to kill her onscreen to conclude her character and the craziest part about that is that the dub didn't even censor it.
